International Poultry Show Ends 50 thousand visitors & 20 countries participated

Farms and Farmer24.com: Bangladeshi poultry is expected to enter into the export market by 2020.  Shamsul Arefin Khaled, president of the World’s Poultry Science Association-Bangladesh Branch (WPSA-BB) said this at the closing ceremony of the 10th International Poultry Show & Seminar. He said, “we have started our preparation to export processed poultry products in the global market. Bangladesh has immense opportunities in the Halal Market. 4-5 million US dollar can be earned annually at preliminary stage”. Production cost must be cut down and government support is needed for that. Mr. Khaled requested to withdraw 5 percent Advance Income Tax (AIT) on importing of different essential raw materials used in poultry feed manufacturing. He also urged the government to withdraw 10 percent Customs Duty on soybean import, 15 percent VAT on DDGS and wave taxes from medicine and vaccine import, in the upcoming budget.

Terming the mega event most successful, Md. Shirajul Haque, General Secretary, WPSA-BB, said that the response is very positive and tremendous. “Poultry farmers and entrepreneurs from different parts of the country besides around 50 thousand spectators visited the show. We have noticed some new technologies in this show, which I believe will be very much effective and helpful for the Bangladeshi poultry industry”.

The Convener of the Poultry Show, Moshiur Rahman said that there were in-depth discussions on poultry diseases & treatment in the scientific sessions, which would be effective for poultry disease diagnosis and improving health. “The global warming is also affecting poultry industry. We have to work on this”, said Mr. Rahman.

WPSA-BB announced prizes for the best stalls in the 3-day show. Avon Animal Health won the first prize. Chicks & Feeds and Renata Limited jointly won the 2nd prize. Whereas Paragon Group and Bengal Overseas Ltd. won the 3rd prize jointly.

An Art competition was held on the 2nd day where 20 children were awarded. The ‘WPSA Night’ also took place on the same day where model actress Sadia Islam Mou & her team performed dances.
